WISCONSINITES AGREE: PASS ROBUST STATE AND LOCAL IN COVID PACKAGE

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, President Joe Biden will travel to Wisconsin to make the case for the American Rescue Plan to Wisconsinites, 60% of whom support going big on Covid relief, including aid for state and local governments.

“Wisconsin’s communities need our help to recover from the Covid pandemic,” said Zac Petkanas, senior advisor to Invest in America Action. “Investing in aid for state and local governments means help for reopening schools, keeping essential workers and first responders on the job, and ensuring a robust vaccine distribution system that gets shots in the arm. Congress needs to meet the urgency of the moment by immediately passing the American Rescue Plan to help struggling families and essential workers.”

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has also argued that federal aid is crucial to avoiding “very, very, very difficult decisions in our next budget.”

Unfortunately, Republicans in Congress like Sen. Ron Johnson continue to oppose the American Rescue Plan, which includes $350 billion in aid for state and local governments — money that is urgently needed to keep essential workers on the job, get people vaccinated, and help schools reopen safely.

Here’s what inaction means for Wisconsin families, workers, entrepreneurs, and community members:
