STATEMENT: 12 YEARS LATER, THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT HAS PROVEN TRANSFORMATIVE AND SUCCESSFUL
The ACA Expanded Coverage for Millions, Advanced Health Equity, & Protected Over 100 Million with Pre-Existing Conditions
Twelve years ago, President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law, which expanded health care coverage for millions of Americans. Today, over 31 million Americans are currently insured through the ACA marketplace or Medicare expansion and the ACA has protected more than 133 million Americans with pre-existing conditions.
Invest in America communications director Jack Miller issued the following statement:
“Thanks to President Obama’s vision, more Americans have health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act than ever before. The ACA has proven to be a transformative bill that lowered costs for families, advanced health equity, and protected hundreds of millions with pre-existing conditions.
“President Biden recently took another critical step in strengthening the ACA and lowered premiums through the American Rescue Plan. Congress should learn from the ACA’s success and prioritize other critical investments that cut costs for families still recovering from the pandemic, including health care costs, child care, education, and energy.”
