ROMNEY POURS COLD WATER ON SEN. WICKER’S $1T INFRASTRUCTURE PROPOSITION, PROVING IT’S ANOTHER DELAY TACTIC

Today, Sen. Wicker Floated a $1 Trillion Counter-Offer On Infrastructure To Be Released On Thursday

Minutes Later, Sen. Romney Said He Was “Unlikely” to Support a Number That High, Proving Such An Offer Wouldn’t Have The Votes

WASHINGTON, D.C  — Within minutes of it being floated, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) threw cold water on Senator Roger Wicker’s (R-MS) pledge to put forward a $1 trillion counter-offer on Thursday morning, proving it wouldn’t be a serious proposal that could garner 10 GOP votes.

Invest in America senior advisor Zac Petkanas released the following statement:

“There are lots of reasons why this latest Republican counter-offer being floated is not serious.

“It would gut investments in the American Jobs Plan needed to create millions of jobs and raid COVID relief funding keeping essential workers like firefighters, police and EMTs on the job.

“But even more than that: a GOP counter-proposal that can’t even get ten Republican votes in the Senate is not a serious offer. It’s just another attempt to indefinitely delay consideration of the American Jobs and Families Plans.

“It’s time to stop banging our heads against the wall with these people and go create some jobs.”
