PRESS CALL TODAY AT 2:30PM: SEN. WYDEN, SEN. CASEY, ECONOMIST REACT TO SENATE REPUBLICANS’ INFRASTRUCTURE PROPOSAL

Senate Republicans’ Proposal Would Shift the Tax Burden from Corporations to the Middle Class and Raid Covid Relief Funding Meant to Keep Essential Workers on the Job

GOP Plan Would Create Millions Fewer Jobs By Gutting the American Jobs Plans’ Investments in Caregiving and School Construction

WASHINGTON, DC — Today at 2:30pm ET, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) and Roosevelt Institute Director of Progressive Thought Mike Konczal will react to the infrastructure proposal from Senate Republicans on a press call hosted by Invest in America Action. RSVP for the call here

The American Jobs Plan includes $400 billion for home and community-based care for elders and people with disabilities, $137 billion to upgrade and build new public schools, community college infrastructure, and child-care facilities, and pays for the investment by raising the corporate tax rate.

The Republicans’ plan would shift the tax burden of infrastructure investment from corporations to the middle class through user fees like tolls, and raid state and local aid from the American Rescue Plan that was meant to keep essential workers on the job. The proposal would lead to millions fewer jobs by gutting investments in school construction and caregiving.
