79% of Voters, Including 78% of Independents and 59% of Republicans, Support Raising Corporate Taxes to Fund Infrastructure Investments

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today at 3:45pm ET, Invest in America Action will host a press conference featuring Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05), and United Food and Commercial Workers Union members David Tony Adams and Tiosha Adams to discuss the need to pass the American Jobs Plan, a once-in-a-generation investment in infrastructure that would be funded by ensuring corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share. Register for the call here.

The group will urge Congress to reject any infrastructure proposal that shifts the tax burden onto middle class Americans through user-fees like tolls and a miles-per-traveled tax, raiding state and local American Rescue Plan funding originally meant for essential workers, or a gas tax.

While the American Rescue Plan helped staunch the bleeding after a devastating year by allowing state and local governments to make ends meet and keep essential workers like firefighters, EMTs, and teachers on the job, the country needs more public investment to truly recover. Featured speakers will make clear that any proposal that burdens middle class Americans with the infrastructure tab will hinder the nation’s overall economic recovery.

Who:

  • Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05)
  • David Tony Adams, UFCW member, Maintenance Technician at Pilgrims Pride from Athens, GA.
  • Tiosha Adams, UFCW member and Administrative Assistant at Kroger from Atlanta, GA.

  • Congresswoman Nikema Williams and local leaders and community advocates call on corporations and the wealthy to pay their fair share on infrastructure, urge members of Congress to reject any proposal that shifts the tax burden onto middle class Americans and raids American Rescue Plan funding meant for keeping essential workers on the job.
