71% Of Voters Oppose Increasing The Gas Tax To Find Infrastructure Investments — Republican Voters Oppose it By A 74 Point Margin
WASHINGTON, DC — Thursday at 12:30pm ET, Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) will gather for a press call hosted by Invest in America Action and Climate Power to weigh in on the state of play for the American Jobs Plan ahead of July 4 recess and discuss the urgent need for Congress to act on key priorities in the Build Back Better agenda including clean energy and caregiving without putting burdens on the middle class while corporations that ship jobs overseas are let off the hook.
After two months of negotiations on President Biden’s American Jobs and Families Plans — which would create millions of good-paying jobs for working families, and pay for it by making those earning over $400,000 and big corporations pay their fair share — the latest proposals from a group of senators would leave millions of jobs on the table by stripping key investments in clean energy and care, raising taxes on the middle class through user fees like a gas tax, and harm state economies by raiding Covid relief funds keeping essential workers on the job.
- Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee
- Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA), member of the Senate Budget Committee
- Sen. Wyden, Sen. Padilla will gather for a press call to discuss the state of play for the American Jobs Plan after two months of negotiations, and the need for Congress to ensure the passage of the Build Back Better agenda.
- Thursday, June 24 at 12:30pm ET
- Register for the call here.
