NEW POLL: MAJORITY OF VOTERS SUPPORT RECONCILIATION TO PASS AMERICAN JOBS & FAMILIES PLANS TOGETHER, BLAME GOP FOR LACK OF BIPARTISANSHIP

56% of Voters, Including a Plurality of Independents, Support Passing the American Jobs and Families Plans Together Through Reconciliation

Voters Blame Republicans in Congress for Lack of Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal to Date & the Overall Lack of Bipartisanship in Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C.  According to a new poll from Invest in America and Data for Progress, a majority of voters support passing the American Jobs and Families Plans together through reconciliation. The poll also found that voters blame Republicans in Congress for the lack of an infrastructure deal to date and for the lack of bipartisanship in Washington.

“Voters understand that President Biden has been 100% focused on delivering job-creating investments for middle class Americans while Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has been 100% focused on stopping the new administration,” said Zac Petkanas, senior advisor for Invest in America Action. “Republicans — not Democrats — get the blame for the lack of bipartisanship in Washington, so there’s no reason to leave millions of jobs on the table in order to strike a watered down deal with Republican support. They want big bold action and have no problem using reconciliation to get there.”

Conducted of 1,175 likely voters between June 11-14, the poll found that:
  • 56% of voters, including a plurality of Independents, support passing the American Jobs and Families Plans together through reconciliation.
  • Voters blame Republicans in Congress, not President Biden, for the current failure to reach a bipartisan deal on infrastructure by a 10 point margin.
  • Voters blame Republicans in Congress, not President Biden, for the lack of bipartisanship in Washington by an 8 point margin.
