NEW POLL: MAJORITY OF VOTERS PREFER AMERICAN JOBS & FAMILIES PLANS TO GOP COUNTER-PROPOSAL, OVERWHELMINGLY OPPOSE USER-FEES & RAIDING COVID RELIEF FUNDS

63% of Voters, Including 64% of Independents and 52% of Republicans, Prefer Funding Infrastructure Investments Through Corporate Taxes Over User-Fees And Raiding Pandemic Relief Funds

51% of Voters Prefer The American Jobs And Families Plans To Republicans’ $568 Billion Counter-Proposal By A +19 Point Margin

WASHINGTON, D.C. — According to a new poll from Invest in America and Data For Progress, a bipartisan majority of voters reject user-fees and raiding Covid pandemic relief funds to pay for infrastructure investments, and prefer the American Jobs and Families Plans to Republicans’ $568 billion counterproposal, which guts funding for schools, caregiving, manufacturing, and clean energy.

“Voters want the American Jobs and Families Plans, and they don’t want to foot the bill while giant corporations get a free pass,” said Zac Petkanas, senior advisor for Invest in America Action. “While the Republican counter-proposal would strip crucial funding for American workers and families while shifting the tax burden to the middle class, the American Jobs and Families Plans invests in our long-term growth by making sure that big corporations and the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share. In order to fully recover from the pandemic, we can’t afford to think small, and lucky for lawmakers, voters don’t want them to.”

Conducted of 1,214 likely voters between May 14-17, the poll found that:

  • 63% of voters, including 64% of Independents and 52% of Republicans, prefer funding infrastructure investments through corporate taxes over user-fees and raiding pandemic relief funds
  • 51% of voters prefer the American Jobs and Families Plans to Republicans’ $568 billion counter-proposal by a +19 point margin
