WASHINGTON, D.C.

‘Tis the month before recess, BBB has passed the House;
We can have it ‘fore the new year, if the Senate allows;
With investments in climate, pre-K, and child care,
‘Twil cut costs for the middle class and improve how they fare;
So we’re marking each day with a reason to move ahead,
with clear visions of its benefits in a neat lil’ Twitter thread;
So come one and come all, to learn as we countdown
What it means to Build Back Better ‘cross our cities and towns

Today, Invest in America Action launched a new holiday digital campaign, “Something Special,” which will countdown to Christmas by cataloguing each day one of the many provisions of the Build Back Better Act with a digital advent calendar. Together, those investments will lower costs for working Americans, lower taxes for the middle class, and create good-paying jobs across the country. View the digital ad here and the Twitter thread here.

The campaign includes:

  • A digital ad urging members of Congress looking to find the perfect holiday gift for their constituents to look no further: passing the Build Back Better Act will be the gift that keeps giving to communities and hard-working families.
  • A digital advent calendar counting the days until the holidays with a new “gift” each day — marking all the ways the Build Back Better Act will make the lives of the American people better.

“With the holidays fast approaching, it’s time for Congress to come down the chimney on time and deliver the gifts that Americans want: critical investments in child care, climate initiatives, education, affordable housing, and more,” said Maddy McDaniel, communications director for Invest in America. “The Build Back Better Act is on middle class families’ wish lists because they know it will lower key costs they face, cut their taxes, and create good-paying jobs. A better economy to all, and to all futures bright.”

The investments in President Biden’s full Build Back Better agenda will lower costs, cut taxes, and create jobs for working families.

  • The Build Back Better agenda will lower costs for working people:

    • It will lower prescription drug costs for Americans by letting Medicare negotiate drug prices, so consumers are no longer at the whim of pharmaceutical companies.

    • It will lower child care costs — which cost parents $30-35 billion in income before the pandemic. Access to affordable child care could increase the lifetime earnings for women with children by nearly $100,000.

    • It will lower health care costs and premiums for those buying coverage through the ACA by extending the American Rescue Plan’s cost savings; adding dental, vision, and hearing coverage to Medicare; and closing the Medicaid gap for low-income Americans.

    • It will lower education costs by increasing pell grants and making universal preschool a reality.

  • The Build Back Better agenda will lower taxes for middle class families:
    • It will expand the Child Tax Credit, lowering taxes for middle class families by providing 39 million households and nearly 90% of children in the U.S. a major tax cut and cutting the child poverty rate in half.

  • The Build Back Better agenda will create millions of jobs:
