MCCONNELL PLEDGE TO OBSTRUCT PROOF THAT WHITE HOUSE, SENATE DEMS SHOULD JUST MOVE TO RECONCILIATION

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell: “100% of my focus is on stopping this new administration”

53% Of Voters Believe Republicans Should Work With, Rather Than Obstruct, President Biden

61% of Voters, Including 64% of Independents, Support the American Families Plan By A +29 Point Margin

73% of Voters, Including 67% of Independents and 57% of Republicans, Support the Proposed $2.25 Trillion American Jobs Plan

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell provided more evidence that Senate Republicans have no intention of negotiating in good faith to pass sorely needed public investments in the nation’s human and physical infrastructure through the American Jobs and Families Plans, saying “100% of my focus is on stopping this new administration.”

“Minority Leader Mitch McConnell just said the silent part out loud: his one and only focus is stopping all of the Biden agenda — including crucial public investments in infrastructure — voters’ preferences be damned,” said Zac Petkanas, senior advisor for Invest in America Action. “This is a slap in the face to the Biden Administration which has gone out of its way to reach across the aisle to find realistic consensus on job creating infrastructure. But instead of facing negotiating partners of good faith, they’ve found pledges of obstruction, attempts to insert poison pills like middle-class tax increases and unreasonable red lines in the sand. Enough. McConnell’s comments are just the latest proof that the White House and Senate Democrats have no choice but to move forward on these crucial public investments through reconciliation.”

According to a new poll from Invest in America and Data For Progress:

  • 65% of voters would support passing the American Jobs Plan through reconciliation.
  • 57% of voters would support passing the American Families Plan through reconciliation.
