ICYMI: West Virginia’s Weirton Daily Times: Healthcare advocates raise concerns about expiring insurance subsidies

In Case You Missed It – Health care professionals in West Virginia are calling on Congress to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies put in place during the pandemic before they expire at the end of the year. 23,000 West Virginians receive coverage through the state-run marketplace and 18,000 of those enrollees are at risk of losing their coverage if the subsidies expire.

Advocates say that West Virginians would likely see a price increase on the marketplace of a staggering 63 percent. Nationally, more than 3 million enrollees signed up for Affordable Care Act coverage last year, bringing the total number of participants to 14.5 million Americans.
