BIDEN ADMINISTRATION MOBILIZES FEDERAL RESPONSE TO COMBAT MONKEYPOX AND BOOST VACCINE DISTRIBUTION

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Biden Administration released a new comprehensive strategy yesterday to combat a rise in Monkeypox cases across the country. Monkeypox is a virus that is spread through close contact, but is much less transmissible than a disease like COVID. To date, the virus has not caused any deaths in the United States.

The White House Plan will immediately address the spread of Monkeypox by providing vaccines to those at high risk. The White House plans to release 56,000 vaccines from a national stockpile and more than 290,000 doses will become available in the medium term. In total, the Biden Administration plans to create and administer 1.6 million doses.

Invest in America senior adviser Zac Petkanas issued this statement:

“Following the disastrous COVID response by the Trump Administration, the Biden Administration’s quick action is a breath of fresh air that will save lives. This strategy will mobilize the federal government to rush vaccines to high-risk populations and activate community health experts to stop outbreaks before they grow. We know from the last two years that aggressive, up-front investments in public health saves lives – bravo to President Biden for a quick and aggressive response.“
